Ellie Hartnett

BSc MISCP
Chartered Physiotherapist

Ellie is a chartered physiotherapist who joined the DSC Team in 2018. Her love for treating people started way back from when she was in school. As a keen middle distance athlete, she picked up a bone stress injury herself and she quickly learned that if she wanted to keep her running on track (literally) she would have to strengthen up. After a few months working closely with a physio, she gradually got back to doing what she loved – racing on the track over 800 and 1500m. Knowing then she could turn her passion into a career, she studied Physiotherapy in UCD and graduated in 2015. Strength and conditioning has remained an important component in her athletic training since and she brings this personal experience to her clinical skills and ability to treat and rehab clients very successfully.

Ellie’s passion lies in rehabilitating people back to their desired activity – be that marathon running, cross country biking, football or knitting!

She loves showing people how resilient their bodies can be and educating them in injury prevention. Her sessions have been fondly referred to as ‘A form of torture’ by many clients but there is method and experience to her madness and a genuine desire for people to get better. Alongside her work in DSC, she has worked as Physiotherapist with the Irish Paralympic Athletic Teams.

Ellie is still a competitive athlete with her club UCD AC over 800 and 1500m, with the longer distance being her favourite. Surprising to many, Ellie can eat more than the rest of the entire DSC Team combined (including Pete!). Her pull ups are still a work in progress and proceed with caution when approaching her on the early shift pre coffee!
