Congratulations to our Member of the Month – Shane Sheridan!

Shane first came to us in DSC in 2018 after surgery on his back with a determination to get back to competitive sprinting. A keen athlete, Shane wanted to spend less time on the treatment table and more time on the track. He kicked off his journey in the DSC Gym with our strength and conditioning coach Aoife who addressed his weaknesses and pushed him through a tough winter’s pre-season strengthening program.

Shane quickly became a well-liked character in DSC with his positive attitude, work ethic and friendliness to everyone. Towards the start of his 2019 track season with training intensity increasing, he started to pick up a few little niggles. So, physio Ellie was entrusted to keep Shane injury free. Shane was able to compete in both the 6th in the 60m event at the World Masters where he placed 6th and in the 100m European Masters Championships where he placed 4th.

Earlier this year Shane competed in the British Masters Indoors over 60m, 200m, and 400m and triumphantly took home triple gold! Not only that, Shane set a new national record M60 60m with a pb of 8.01s which also put him to the top of the world rankings. In August he took the M60 National 100m title and equalled his national record of 12.66.

Shane’s commitment to his strength programs and rehab over the last two tears has been second to none. He is an inspiration to all of us and a reminder that age is no barrier to what our bodies are capable of. Congratulations again Shane and Very excited to see what comes next for Shane!

Clint of the Month Dublin Sports Clinic

1.When did you first join Dublin Sports Clinic Gym?

September 2018 after having back surgery in January 2018 and looking to return to running

2. What do you like about it?

That I can have both my fitness training and physiotherapy needs looked after in one place and the fantastic knowledge of all the staff so whatever help and advice I need there is always be someone to supply it.

3. What advice would you give to someone just starting in Dublin Sports Clinic Gym?

Don’t look on it a just a gym but as a one stop location for all your fitness needs.

4. What’s your favourite session – and who’s your favourite trainer?!

The personal training sessions with Aoife for Strength and Conditioning which are always designed to help me improve my sprinting. Because I had back surgery it is very important that my programme is designed with this in mind and Aoife in consultation with Ellie who does all of my physio treatments work out a programme to suit me.
